100% New Zealand Bacon and Ham Awards Conditions of Entry

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. Entries must be entered digitally on the official entry form at rmnz.co.nz. You may enter as many categories as you wish.

  2. All products must meet legal manufacturing requirements and comply with the Australian and New Zealand Food Standards Code and Fair Trading Act.

  3. All bacon products must be currently, and at the time of the contest, available to consumers via your own physical or online store or a retail business outlet. The organisers reserve the right to carry out random validation checks at any time before or during the competition.

  4. Hams must be available within six months after the competition report announcement on Friday 9 August. Where applicable, the date they will become available at retail level and the duration they will be available must be included in the entry form, and where it is a medal-winning product this will be mentioned in the press release.

  5. All bacon and ham entries must be made from PigCare™ Accredited New Zealand Pork. The organisers reserve the right to audit a sample of entries to confirm origin.

  6. All bacon and hams entered must be made the exact same way and with the same recipe as the products sold at retail level.

  7. Entrants are responsible for making arrangements with their local courier for pickup and delivery of entries. Products must arrive between Tuesday 4 - Friday 7 June. Retail Meat New Zealand takes no responsibility for products that arrive outside of these dates and times, or products that arrive in poor condition. It is the entrants' responsibility to package and send the products in a way conducive to maintaining quality and freshness. If the product arrives in poor condition, every reasonable attempt will be made to obtain replacement product(s) at the entrants' expense. If this is not possible no refund will be offered.

  8. The event organisers will have the final say over which category the entry falls into and reserve the right to re-classify any entry submitted.

  9. The competition judges reserve the right not to award a prize in any category.

  10. The decision of the judging panel is final and no discussion or correspondence will be entered into.

  11. Medal winners wishing to use the 100% New Zealand Bacon and Ham Awards branding material are required to comply with the branding criteria established by the competition organisers. Random audits can be undertaken at any time following the competition to ensure compliance with the branding criteria as stated below.

    • Medal labels can only be used for the winning product. No changes to the original recipe, origin of pork which needs to be PigCare™ Accredited New Zealand Pork.

    • People’s Choice labels can only be used on 100% NZ pork products and for products that have been entered into that year’s competition.

  12. In the case in which a Supreme Award is given to an entry submitted by a non-member of RMNZ, the entrant will be required to sign up to become an RMNZ member and pay the annual membership fee. The invoice will be sent immediately after the night of the awards dinner on Tuesday 23 July.

  13. The Supreme Award winners of the 100% NZ Bacon & Ham Awards will be invited to attend the NZPork conference in Wellington on Tuesday 30th July. Flights, accommodation and Conference registration (including conference dinner) per Supreme Award winner will be covered by NZPork as part of the prize.

  14. All entrants must be willing to participate in publicity surrounding the competition.

  15. Promotions/ advertising and any other publicity must clearly identify the winning store, product and the competition year.

  16. The organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry.

  17. All entry fees must be paid before the judging. If the entry fee is not paid in full, on or before Monday 27 May, the organisers reserve the right to remove the entry from the judging process.

  18. If an entrant is unable, for whatever reason, to send their entries for category judging, during the week specified above please advise Retail Meat New Zealand no later than Friday 31 May. Retail Meat New Zealand is only liable to refund 50% of the entry fees.

  19. All participants agree by entry into this competition to accept these rules and conditions and participate in promoting and reporting the competition, and to the use of personal information.

  20. The information and notes contained on this competition website are to be read with and form part of the conditions of entry.

  21. Label Disclaimer - Some labels will be provided complimentary, additional labels can then be purchased from MCC Labels.

  22. Participants can only enter a product into one category once. (Products cannot be entered into the same category multiple times).

  23. If the 2024 100% New Zealand Bacon and Ham Awards is cancelled due to COVID-19 related restrictions prohibiting RMNZ from delivering this event, we will offer you a full refund.
