event: PURE SOUTH MASTER BUTCHER TEAMS CHALLENGE

PURE SOUTH MASTER BUTCHER TEAMS CHALLENGE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. Entries to be on the official online entry form. Entries close on Friday 3 July 2026 at 5pm. Entry fees apply to non-RMNZ members and must be paid to secure place in the competition.

  2. Competitors agree to abide by all the rules and judges’ decisions.

  3. Teams who are unable to participate in the competition must advise the event organisers two weeks prior to the competition taking place. Failure to do so will result in the team being invoiced a $300 (plus GST) fee. 

  4. Entrants in the Pure South Master Butcher Teams Challenge must be qualified butchers.  

  5. Previous winners of the Pure South Master Butcher of the Year may enter the contest again in this same team’s category. 

  6. Participants are required to attend a pre-competition briefing on the day, the time will be advised and all entrants must have signed the Health and Safety form to compete.

  7. The only meat to be displayed is that supplied by the organisers. Exceptions to this rule are cured meats such as prosciutto and bacon or seafood such as prawns or similar.

  8. The dress code for the competition is smart casual, suitable footwear and an apron, or the employer’s uniform. Hats must be worn. Steel mesh gloves (up to the elbow), cut resistant glove and steel mesh aprons are essential.

  9. All judging sheets remain the property of Retail Meat New Zealand. Feedback on teams performance will be provided on request.

  10. RMNZ may be able to contribute towards travel to Auckland and accommodation, for those teams outside of the local Auckland region within New Zealand. Once the teams have been selected RMNZ will be in touch with what we are able to contribute towards your travel costs. If you live in the Auckland region, we will not offer accommodation. This is also only available to Retail Meat New Zealand members. 

  11. Time away from work to take part in the competition is at the individual’s expense.

  12. Competitors must use the Pact Packaging trays supplied specifically for the competition, if trays need to be used.

  13. All competitors must agree to participate in the promotion and reporting of the competition and to the use of their personal details for those purposes.
