With the current COVID-19 climate and butchers’ now being able to operate online, you may be thinking about establishing or improving your online presence. With more people shopping online during the lockdown, consumers are changing the way they shop and online shopping for groceries is set to become the new normal and we want our butchers to make the most of this opportunity.
No website or e-commerce platform? It’s not too late to get online!
Now is a good time to be thinking about getting a website with an e-commerce platform. Here are few ways in which you can get a new website set up:
Engage a website development company. A professional website consultant will work out a digital strategy for your business and a designer will custom build and design a website. They can also assist with digital marketing strategies. This is generally a more expensive option (between $4k - $7k) and the costs will depend on the functionality you will need. It is an investment and in the long run you may get better results if you get a custom built site.
There is also an alternative option to custom building websites from scratch, and that is online website builders and hosting services. This is where you select a pre-built website template and use drag and drop elements to create your own website, these sites do have e-commerce and analytic capabilities. There are two options here:
D.I.Y using an online website builder. With this option you need to learn how to use the website builder tool and create your own website. These tools are very intuitive and can be learned, but like anything new this takes a certain level of skill plus time to learn the tools, and of course time is money. The cost for these sites are relatively cheap and are billed via monthly/yearly subscription which could be anything from $500 - $1,200 per year.
Engage a website creator who is an expert in online website builders. A website creator will be experienced in using a certain online website builder and is able to select the best template to suit your needs, and create a website and content for you. The initial cost for this is probably around $3,500 for the website design and then you’ll have your yearly subscription fee.
If you already have a website and want to add on an e-commerce platform, here are a few couple of ways this can be done:
Talk to your existing web designer to include an online shop
Use a D.I.Y. e-commerce platform builder that can easily integrate into your website
Start completely fresh and create a brand new site with an e-commerce platform, using one of the ways mentioned above.
