Global networking group, Meat Business Women are stepping onto the world stage as they accept an invitation to speak at the World Meat Congress (WMC) in Cancun, Mexico on June 12.

Touted as the most influential and informative event on the global meat industry calendar, the WMC brings together approximately 1,000 international delegates to discuss issues and trends affecting meat and livestock organisation which are fundamental for sector outlook.

Meat Business Women Chair, Laura Ryan says she’s delighted with the opportunity to speak directly about the group’s goals to an audience that can instigate change.

“It’s no secret that the industry is facing some enormous challenges yet there is so much potential around where we can position our sector. Ensuring we have access to the best possible talent pipeline is crucial and placing an international spotlight on our objectives will help us to achieve that.”

As part of the Meat Business Women presentation, the group hopes to launch a global state of the nation report on current gender balance within the industry which the International Meat Secretariat (IMS) – the organisation behind the WMC say will be a highlight for delegates attending the congress.

“The formation of Meat Business Women has created a positive global network and since one of the goals of IMS and the WMC is to be proactive in tackling industry challenges, their plans will add an interesting insight to our audience,” said IMS Secretary General, Hsin Huang.

The presentation at the WMC has been a development from their global partnership with IMS, a non-profit organisation that represents the global meat and livestock sector as a vital motor of growth for the sustainable supply of safe, healthy, high-quality and nutritious animal protein.

Since partnering with IMS in January 2019, Meat Business Women have expanded their network from UK, New Zealand and Australia to encompass Ireland and the United States of America.

The group has also since addressed the United Nations at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe session where Meat Business Women were recognised as a key partner to finding global solutions to the Sustainable Development Goals.
