We're moving our events online!

As things have progressed with the Covid-19 situation we have made a decision to move the Alto Young Butcher, ANZCO Foods Butcher Apprentice & Pure South Master Butcher of the Year Grand Final, as well as the Great New Zealand Sausage Competition Awards online.
Both events will still go ahead, however, the big event scheduled for Thursday 29 October will not be happening and instead, we will be hosting each event virtually online.

The Great New Zealand Sausage Competition

·         We are working with a production company to put together an online awards ceremony to be sent out via email on the evening of Tuesday 27 October.

·         We will continue to focus on generating as much media as possible to profile the event, sponsors and entrants.

Alto Young Butcher, ANZCO Foods Butcher Apprentice & Pure South Master Butcher of the Year Grand Final

·         We will be live streaming this event on our website on Tuesday 10 November, in the evening.

·         You won't be able to attend the event. Only pre-approved people will be permitted at the venue, including finalists, one support person per finalist, staff, commentators, judges, equipment suppliers and media.

·         The live stream will run similar to a sports game with a panel of commentators and several cameras roaming so you will be able to get a good view of all the action.

We are still progressing with our Regional Competitions for the Alto Young Butcher and ANZCO Foods Butcher Apprentice of the Year kicking off this Friday in Wellington and have implemented some measures and restrictions to ensure the health of our entrants and staff. The Sausage Competition Category Judging will also be going ahead from 15-22 September, with Supreme Judging taking place a couple of weeks later – we have moved the Supreme Judging date forward to Wednesday 7 October. We have however cancelled the People’s Choice Judging for this year. The People’s Choice Judging brings together a large number of people and involves our staff engaging with them in close proximity and we felt it wasn’t socially responsible to continue with this component of the competition. We will, however, replace this with a Wildcard award, the details of which we are still working through.

While we are disappointed to not be able to come together in person this year we believe taking these events online allows us to celebrate our competitors, winners and the wider industry in the most socially responsible way, while also providing an opportunity to reach a wider audience – these videos will go much further than the usual audience who attend the physical events. In addition, we will still have a big focus on getting as much publicity as we can for our winners, and the competition.

More details around these two online events will be released over the coming weeks.
