Alto Young Butcher of the Year
ABOUT THE COMPETITION
The Alto Young Butcher of the Year is a prestigious event well regarded by the retail meat trade and the titles are highly sought after by competitors.
The competition has been running for three decades and begins with five regional competitions where entrants have to sit an exam, undertake an interview and do a practical cutting test.
The winning young butcher competitor from each region then goes onto the Grand Final where they have to undertake the same testing process, with the addition of an on-stage element.
The Grand Final is staged in Auckland as part of a black tie dinner which is a highlight on the industry calendar.
